The Lucky Livewire 4-H Club of Crofton is preparing for the upcoming Knox County Fair with an expectation of having 70 members register for 4-H this year, making it one of the largest clubs in the county.
The 2026 officer team includes: Tyson Jackson as President, Carter Steffen as Vice President, Cecilia Wortmann as Secretary, Jake Jackson as Treasurer, and Makenah Steffen as Reporter/Historian.
The club completed their annual roadside cleanup on Easter Monday this year. Knox county recently held their Communication and Speech contests. In the Prepared Speech Intermediate Division, Meredith Wortmann received Champion and Grace Steffen received a purple. In the Intermediate PSA Division, Steffen received a purple and Champion.
Wortmann received a purple ribbon in her presentation titled “Learning Since Birth.” Both have qualified and will compete at the State 4-H Premier Communications Event which will be held on June 16-17 in Lincoln.
On May 15 at 2 p.m., the club will be participating in a petting zoo event at the Good Samaritan Center in Bloomfield. The next club meeting at the Crofton North Park will be on May 17 at 4 p.m.
