The Plainview Social Center is a community asset to Plainview.

Here at the Center, we do many daily activities, health clinics, nutrition education programs, and, we provide meals for all ages and also do home-delivered meals that provide nutritional needs for the elderly and shut-in. We hold daily and social activities throughout the month, and these are all things that we feel are important for our community members.

We know that the people that we deliver meals to (Monday-Friday) probably would not be able to stay in their homes without these meals, due to the fact that they cannot cook because of health problems, or physical health conditions.

We also are providing them with a person to visit and to check on them daily, even if it s for only 10 minutes. Our meals are available for all ages, and you can call in for pickups.

The Center is starting to struggle financially with the cost of food, supplies and utilities all going up. Through NNAAOA our funding has been cut back, because of government rules and regulations.

We have lost several members of our community that used the Center on a regular basis. This is either due to death or going into the nursing home. This, in turn, makes our counts go down and funding shorter.

As the Manager, and with the help of my board members, we are reaching out for your help in any way that you can. We ask that if you can financially help, please do (we are a 501(c)3 tax deductible), or come support us through any of our programs that we offer, whether it be through eating at the center, or coming to our activities.

We want to continue to keep our doors open, but right now the outcome is looking pretty dark.
